progress
While working on the upcoming release 0.7.0 I noticed some issues with the current release that I want to address first. In other words, there will be a version 0.6.4 shortly.
It will be a pure bugfix release including things like:
- The current release identifies itself as 0.6.2 rather than 0.6.3
- There is a small fix to the JavaScript validation
- Sending gift vouchers is broken (my favourite thing to break, it seems)
- Pretty links are broken :/
Especially the last item is quite annoying, so for people that have tried 0.6.3 and are keen to use pretty links: help is on it’s way.
Coming to more positive things. The afore mentioned work on 0.7.0 is making good progress. The theme code refactoring is almost done and wasn’t as bad as I expected. Impact on existing code is minimal, even though some small changes to templates might be required - we’ll see.
The next major release will also see a new about page with some information about ZenMagick and PHP, so bug tracing should be easier, in particular when it comes down to individual PHP/Zenmagick combinations.
There will also be another fun thing that I would like to include, but I am not sure about it’s usefulness. It’s a PHP console which is basically just a simple multi-line form to enter PHP code which then gets executed. Looking back at it, it seems obvious to do and I am sure there must be something like that out there in the web already.
Anyhow, since I am a bit concerned about security, it will be most likely just in the etc folder. Users will actively have to copy it into the admin area in order to use it (the menu will pick it up automatically). I think it would be handy for testing and caneasily be removed once it is not needed anymore (so you should copy it, rather than moving ![]()
