Yesterday someone pointed out to me that there is a new version of Ultimate SEO available (3.0.b1). That’s where I made my first mistake! Without so much as downloading the new version I said that support for the new version wouldn’t be a problem. So, guess what?

Well, to be fair, it wouldn’t be a big problem. However, the new version contains 40+ files and with the code organized properly including folder for additional plugins(!), I can’t really see how to integrate that other than just adding it as is and where is the point in that?

Don’t get me wrong - ZenMagick will contine to have Ultimate SEO support. I might decide to repackage the currently included version as addon to ZenMagick, or just leave it as it is now and make sure that it is possible to install 3.x on top of that. It’s just that including all those files doesn’t seem right…

I have this vague idea of supporting both version 2.x or 3.x with one patch and a setting to tell it which one to activate. If everything works out, all required would be to download USEO 3.x, copy the files into yout zen-cart folder and run the patch. So, no manual changes to files to make it work, cooperation with pretty links as before and so forth…

Not sure if that is happen right in the next version, but definitely in the near future, so watch this space…
