weekly update

Not sure how much out of sync I am right now with my updates, but I think today should be a good time.

Now that 0.9.7 is released it is time [again] to look forward and start planning what should go into ZenMagick 0.9.8.

Beside the usual suspects like:

  • more documentation (plugins, general information, perhaps a features page on the main site and also a quck install!)
  • bug fixes
  • more themes
  • new features (which???)

There is again going to be a good measure of restructuring to separate the remainder of the MVC code still mixed up with store code. Part of that is going to be an attempt to integrate Savant3 as the main view API. Most of the base work for that is already done. However it seemed too much to try and push those changes into 0.9.7. Also, I’ll need to refactor most view code (hopefully dropping some chunks of code along the way).

Another things that I found myself thinking about is actually a new default theme. I do not mind the the current blue, but especially after having worked on the other themes I have found a few things that could be improved (side-boxes I am looking at you guys!), so any feedback on that would be appreciated.

  1. Hi Mano,

Thanks for the new release, I will install it on my test server in the next couple of days and will report any problems.

I have a request for the future, or now even if it’s not too much trouble. Could you please make a separate download on sourceforge with ALL plugins included? It would save a lot of time to be able to download the complete package in one go and then install the ones I want to use instead of getting them one at a time from sourceforge.

Also, another request. Can you set up your Paypal donations to accept subscriptions? I will sign up for a monthly donation once you do.

Thanks again and keep up the great work!

    Matt

  2. Cool. I’ll have a think about packing the plugins – there have also been requests to build full releases incl. zen cart and all, so it looks like I might be working on my build system again…

Hmm, donation subscription – sounds nice ;) Are you sure that this is something to be done on my side?? I couldn’t really find anything about that topic on paypal – any ideas??

  3. Hmmm, I’m not sure how it’s done. I do the monthly donation to zen cart and phreebooks and they both have a monthly amount button on their sites…. like $10 am month, $20 a month, etc… Maybe it’s under recurring payments, or some other title? If I find out I will post it.

It’s just that with so many plugins now it would be much faster for folks to get them all in one download.

Thanks again for your incredible work, I don’t know how you can possibly accomplish so much in so little time, I am amazed! Perhaps the zc devs should ask you to help them resolve their problem with the new shopping cart class so they can finally release 2.0! :-)

  4. I think is’ just a regular subscription – not really a donation. I’ll set up a few soon. I think I might change the email address used – I think using radebatz.net is no longer that accurate.
